May Day march in Melbourne 1951 shot less than 2 years after ASIO was formed. The threat of Communism as a political philosphy had yet to reach it's peak and the Cold War was getting underwsay. Prime Minister Menzies stated that he believed that world war was coming. This is one of the earliest films shot by the intelligence agency. As you can see the camera person had obviously not yet mastered the skills required but the film is fascinating nevertheless.
