This is surveillance of a Young Socialists League (YSL) meeting which took place at 57 Palmerston St in the Melbourne suburb of Carlton. The house itself appears a number of times in the intelligence files as a place of meetings for draft resisters, anti-Vietnam groups and other left leaning groups. The Attorney General believed that a number of draft resisters lived in the upstairs rooms.
This is one of the films which look quite low in resolution due to the extraordinary advice provided by the National Archive of Australia that as the films were of no security interest they could be filmed on a domestic video and then sold to get the silver out of the film. The original films were destroyed in the process.
